Trump Wins Again — Now what, Bestie?

Alright, bestie, let’s not sugarcoat it — a Trump win has so many of us feeling like we’ve been knocked flat.

It’s that sinking feeling that makes you want to scream, cry, and maybe down a pint of ice cream all in one sitting. We’ve seen firsthand the impact his policies and words have had on women, marginalized communities, immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, and more. And now we’re staring down the barrel of four more years. It’s okay to feel crushed right now — because we’re in this together, and together, we feel everything.

But listen: even when it hurts, even when we feel defeated, we don’t back down. No matter how frustrating or scary this is, we’re not letting go of the progress we’ve made or the goals we still have. Some of the biggest, most incredible changes in history have come from people just like us — fighting not because it was easy but because it was necessary.

If there’s one thing this community has proven over and over again, it’s that we’re resilient. We know how to turn defeat into action, tears into tenacity. We are needed more than ever, so let’s make sure we show up for each other, for those who feel the impact most, and for all the voices that need lifting.

Why This Matters (Now More Than Ever)

We know Trump’s track record — it’s not a mystery. His leadership isn’t just about policies; it’s about real lives, real families, and real dreams.

We’re talking about kids, elders, working folks, and anyone just trying to live in safety and dignity. This isn’t about numbers on a page; it’s about people who deserve a life of respect and opportunity. But guess what? He might be president, but he’s not in charge of our spirit or our strength.

We’re not here to sit on the sidelines. We are doers, changemakers, and advocates — every single one of us. No president can stop us from supporting each other or building the world we know is possible. Together, we are an unstoppable force for good.

How We Keep Fighting, Starting Now

We get it — this all feels huge and heavy. But doing something is the antidote to feeling powerless. Even a small step can make a huge difference. Here are some ways to channel this energy into action:

  • Support Small, Mighty Nonprofits — Look, some of the most amazing work is happening in small nonprofits that need us now. (We’ve got a few recommendations below if you need ideas!) Give your time, your dollars, or just your voice to support them however you can.
  • Get Loud, Spread the Word — Your voice matters. Talk about what’s happening, share information, write letters, and don’t hold back. Even if you feel like only a few people are listening, you’re planting seeds that will grow.
  • Build Up Our Community — Let’s hold each other up. Whether it’s joining local action groups, checking in on friends, or just staying in the loop, we need each other more than ever. Remember: movements are built on relationships.
  • Prep for the Next Battle — There’s always more to be done, and change doesn’t happen just through big elections. Look at local races, community issues, and new causes to support. There’s always another chance to make an impact.
  • Prioritize Self-Care — You’re only human, bestie, and we need you here for the long haul. Take breaks, recharge, and remember that rest is part of the work. Take care of yourself because the fight is ongoing.

Some Nonprofits to Lift Up Right Now

Feeling inspired? Here are some smaller nonprofits doing incredible work — perfect places to send a donation or a shout-out:

  • RAICES — Providing crucial legal aid to immigrant families and fighting for reform on the front lines.
  • Trans Lifeline — A peer support hotline and resource for trans people across North America.
  • Mutual Aid Disaster Relief — A network of folks helping communities directly affected by disaster, from fires to floods.
  • The Loveland Foundation — Focused on providing therapy and support for Black women and girls.
  • Indigenous Environmental Network — Supporting the rights and lands of Indigenous people, fighting for environmental and social justice.

So, bestie, take a deep breath. Yes, things are hard, and they might be for a while. But we’ve got each other, and we’ve got our mission.

This fight isn’t over — not by a long shot. Together, we’re more powerful than any one election, any one leader. And we’re not giving up. Not today, not ever. Let’s keep showing up, making noise, and being there for each other.
